As a dedicated mother of two sons, one a graduate of SDA and the other of LCC, she brings both a personal and professional commitment to the students and families of the San Dieguito community. Her youngest son is on the autism spectrum, giving her firsthand experience navigating special education systems and advocating for students with diverse learning needs. Today, as Vice President of Legislation for the San Diego and Imperial Counties PTA, she carries that advocacy to the policy level, working on behalf of families across the region to shape the decisions that affect their schools.</h4>

In support to her community, Amy has served in numerous leadership roles across Encinitas Union School District and San Dieguito Union High School District, including PTA President, Instructional Council Oversight Committee, Social &amp; Emotional Wellness Committee, Special Education Taskforce, and SPED Transition Taskforce.&nbsp;She also served on the executive board of the North County Consortium for Special Education, overseeing special education services across 14 school districts in northern San Diego County.&nbsp;In regards to the broader health of our community, Amy has also served the City of Encinitas as the Environmental Commissioner, Planning Commissioner, and as a contributor to the Climate Action Plan, Cyclovia, and various city ordinances.&nbsp;

Students today are not the same students we were. They are asking harder questions, expecting more from their schools, and actively engaging with what they are learning and why. I think that is a good thing. I want a district that meets them where they are, and that ground is changing rapidly. As a trustee, I will champion an educational environment that is responsive to students as whole people: what they need to succeed academically, what they need to thrive personally, and what will actually prepare them for the world they are walking into. The San Dieguito Union High School District has world-class teachers, and it is incumbent on the board of trustees to ensure they have the resources they need to keep pace with this fast-moving education environment.

AI is already in our students' lives. It is in how they research, how they write, how they question what they are being taught. The question is not whether our district engages with it, but whether we do so thoughtfully. I will advocate for a clear framework that brings AI into the classroom in ways that enhance what great teachers do, not replace them. The goal is to build to adapt as the technology continues to evolve. We need to be dynamic in our District, in a way that includes all of our students. This requires ongoing investment and honest evaluation.
