<p><strong>Students today are not the same students we were. </strong>They are asking harder questions, expecting more from their schools, and actively engaging with what they are learning and why. I think that is a good thing. I want a district that meets them where they are, and that ground is changing rapidly. As a trustee, I will champion an educational environment that is responsive to students as whole people: what they need to succeed academically, what they need to thrive personally, and what will actually prepare them for the world they are walking into. The San Dieguito Union High School District has world-class teachers, and it is incumbent on the board of trustees to ensure they have the resources they need to keep pace with this fast-moving education environment.</p>

<p><strong>AI is already in our students' lives. </strong>It is in how they research, how they write, how they question what they are being taught. The question is not whether our district engages with it, but whether we do so thoughtfully. I will advocate for a clear framework that brings AI into the classroom in ways that enhance what great teachers do, not replace them. The goal is to build to adapt as the technology continues to evolve. We need to be dynamic in our District, in a way that includes all of our students. This requires ongoing investment and honest evaluation.</p>

<p><strong>Our District budget is not an abstraction. </strong>It is the sum of every decision we make about what our students need and what our community can sustain. I believe in treating every dollar in this District like it came from a neighbor's pocket, because it did. As a trustee, I will push for transparency, accountability, and smart stewardship of public resources, so that funding goes where it belongs: directly into classrooms, teachers, and student programs.</p>
