About — Amy Flicker for School Board

Amy Flicker is a public education advocate and dedicated civil servant.

As the mother of two SDUHSD graduates, one an honors graduate of San Dieguito Academy and one a special needs graduate of La Costa Canyon, she brings both personal and professional commitment to this role. Her youngest son is on the autism spectrum, giving her firsthand experience navigating the systems, structures, and decisions that shape the lives of students with diverse learning needs.

That experience drove a career of sustained public service. Amy has served as PTA President at both the Encinitas Union School District and San Dieguito Union High School District levels, and on the Independent Citizens’ Oversight Committees for both EUSD’s Proposition P and SDUHSD’s Proposition AA bond funds. She was selected for the SDUHSD Social Emotional and Wellness Committee, LCAP Committee, Special Education Transition Committee, and Special Education Taskforce. Beginning as her district’s Parent Liaison for Special Education on the North Coastal Consortium for Special Education, she ultimately served on its Executive Board. NCCSE oversees 14 school districts and is one of the largest SELPAs in California.

Amy has also served the City of Encinitas as both Planning Commissioner and Environmental Commissioner, where she helped bring the annual Cyclovia event to Encinitas, contributed to the City’s Climate Action Plan and Safe Routes to School program, and worked on various city ordinances.

Today, Amy serves on the Executive Board of the North Coastal Council of PTAs and as Vice President of Legislation for the California State PTA Ninth District, covering all of San Diego and Imperial Counties, carrying that advocacy to the policy level in Sacramento and Washington, DC on behalf of the families and schools of this region.
